Tips on Installing and Configuring Stata
for Lab Managers with Macintoshes
Most of the instructions shown for Tips on Installing and Configuring Stata for a Lab Running Windows
can apply to those using Macintoshes. Some additional points/exceptions
are...
- The set memory command does not work on the Macintosh.
Instead, you can set the memory by changing the properties of the Stata
executable.
- Instead of using the cd command in profile.do, you may wish
to use a file called stata.do to invoke stata. You can make a copy of
stata.ado to the location where you want Stata to start up. You can
make an alias of stata.ado and place that in the apple menu items to
invoke Stata, and it will still start up in the directory where the original
stata.ado was located.
For assistance installing/configuring Stata for your Lab with
Macintoshes, please contact the ATS Stat Consulting Group
at ATSstat@ucla.edu
and we will arrange to meet with you to help install and customize your Stata so
your students can get maximum benefit from it.
