Survey Data Analysis Examples

Unless you specify otherwise, Stata estimation commands assume that your observations were sampled from the population using Simple Random Sampling. If this is true, you can use standard Stata commands to analyze your data. Even if you have weights for your data, most Stata commands allow you to specify a weight (see the Stata help for weight), and if you have clustering most Stata commands permit you to specify the cluster() option (see Stata Data Analysis Examples: Non-Independence within Clusters). However, if you have survey design features that go beyond this, then you may need to use the svy : prefix command to specify the design of your survey to get the most appropriate analysis. Here are just a couple of examples to acquaint you with this.
