FAQ: How do I cite web pages and programs from UCLA ATS?

We get requests from time to time as to the correct citation for one of our web pages or one of our programs.

Please note that you may have to edit the style to be consistent with the periodical to which you are submitting.

Here is an example citation for a page with no author listed.

Introduction to SAS. UCLA: Academic Technology Services, Statistical Consulting Group.
from http://www.ats.ucla.edu/stat/sas/notes2/ (accessed November 24, 2007).
Here is a citation for a Stata program written by Joe Bruin. Note that the names have been changed to protect the innocent. Substitute the person's name, program name and program description as needed.
Bruin, J. 2006. newtest: command to compute new test. UCLA: Academic Technology Services,
Statistical Consulting Group.  http://www.ats.ucla.edu/stat/stata/ado/analysis/.

Here is an example citation entry when producing a Latex file using the biblatex package. Here is a link to an example latex file, associated .bib file and resulting pdf file.

@ONLINE{newtest,
  author = {Bruin, J.},
  title = {newtest: command to compute new test {@ONLINE}},
  month = FEB,
  year = {2011},
  url = {http://www.ats.ucla.edu/stat/stata/ado/analysis/}
}
