ERDAS Imagine Professional

ERDAS Imagine is a complete image processing software package which focuses on satellite image processing (including Landsat TM, MSS, AVHRR, SPOT (a French satellite) and RADAR imagery) and geo-applications.

Imagine Professional Available in the Visualization Portal and Modeling Lab

Imagine Professional 8.7 is available:

  • For presentations: on the SGI platforms in the Visualization Portal
  • For work: on a windows machines in the Modeling Lab.

All copies have the optional Vector and Virtual GIS modules.

Imagine Professional  Key Features

Core System

  • Image input: Imagine can read various kinds of image formats.
  • Imagine can display ArcInfo coverage and ArcView shapefile directly.
  • Geo-correction: register an image to a georeferenced map or another image.
  • Orthocorrection: register air photos (taken at an angle) to ortho photos.
  • The Imagine mosaicking tool mosaicks a number of individual images into a single image.
  • Imagine includes  various image processing  filters and transformations for image enhancement.
  • Imagine can derive topographically-related information (e.g. slope, aspect, shaded relief, and contours) from surface data.
  • It's proximity spatial analyses allows you to derive region-based statistical measurements.
  •  Multiresolution image merge merges together images of different resolutions.
  • Imagine's advanced image classification classifies the image according to landuse, landcover, temperature etc.
  • RADAR image analysis: speckle suppression and feature enhancement.
  • Modeling language: graphical flow charts and EML scripts.

Vector Module

This module inputs and exports various kinds of vector data.

Virtual GIS Module

This module allows you  to build a surface model, including man made features such as buildings. The Virtual GIS Module  can perform the following actions on GIS models:

  • Virtual Reality fly-through under user control or on a set path.
    • In mono or in stereo.
    • With data query on demand
  • The result of flying on a set path can be output as a movie.
