How to Run IDL Interactively

To Run IDL Interactively from the UCLA Grid Portal

IDL is not available for you to use interactively from the UCLA Grid Portal. However, IDL is used as the engine for the visualization of 2D and 3D gridded data by the Grid Portal. Select the file you want to visualize in the Portal's Data Manager and click on Visualize.

To Run IDL Interactively from a Cluster Interactive Node

To run IDL interactively you must first connect to the cluster login node with X11 forwarding enabled. Then use qrsh to obtain an interactive session. Enter:
