How to Run TotalView Interactively

To run an interactive program on one of the ATS-hosted clusters you must follow the rules that restrict on which nodes interactive programs can be run and for how long. For example, here are the rules for the Hoffman2 cluster. Rules for other ATS-hosted clusters are linked from their home pages.

To run TotalView interactively you must first connect to the cluster head node with X11 forwarding enabled. Then ssh to one of the interactive nodes also with X11 forwarding enabled. Enter:

totalview

The TotalView GUI will open up. Start up the program that you want to debug from inside of the TotalView GUI.
