How to Display a Large Image with Imagine

Internal Document Only -- Watch Us Work

If your image size is over 1280x1024 and you want to see the image without distortion, you need to use the ERDAS Imagine Viewer.

  1. On the command line, enter: imagine
This starts up the Imagine GUI interface.
  2. Click the viewer icon viewer.gif (679 bytes) and a Viewer window appears.
  3. Call up your image.
    1. In the Viewer window, click the window maximum icon on the upper-right corner of the window. The Viewer window is maximized to fit the screen.
    2. Select File/Open/Raster or click the open.gif (254 bytes) icon. A dialog box appears.
    3. Go to the directory and choose the filetype (click the icon after the File Type to choose). You can see a list of the files available in that directory in your selected filetype.
    4. Click the filename and click OK if your image is in standard image format such as tiff, gif, etc.
  4. Select color or band options.
  5. Select View/Zoom/Default to get a full resolution view 1:1 of your image. You can also use the zoom icons to zoom-in or zoom-out. Move the scroll bars on the right side or the bottom of the window to scroll down or to the right side of the image.
