How to Display a Large Image with Imagine
Internal Document Only -- Watch Us Work
If your image size is over 1280x1024 and you want to see the image without distortion,
you need to use the ERDAS Imagine Viewer.
- On the command line, enter: imagine
This starts up the Imagine GUI interface.
- Click the viewer icon
and
a Viewer window appears.
- Call up your image.
- In the Viewer window, click the window maximum icon on the upper-right
corner of the window. The Viewer window is maximized to fit the screen.
- Select File/Open/Raster or click the
icon. A dialog box appears.
- Go to the directory and choose the filetype (click the icon after the File Type
to choose). You can see a list of the files available in that directory in your selected
filetype.
- Click the filename and click OK if your image is in standard image
format such as tiff, gif, etc.
- Select color or band options.
- If your image is pseudo color with one band or multi-band (3 or over), and you want to
change or choose the band combination, click the Raster Options tab on
the top of this dialog.
- If your image only has one band, you can display the image either as Pseudo
Color or Gray Scale and click OK.
- If your data is DEM data, you can display as Relief, Pseudo
Color or Gray Scale and click OK.
- If your image has three or more bands, you need to choose True Color.
You can define the band number for Red, Green, and Blue
by moving the arrow up or down, or type in the band number, and click OK.
The default combination is set up in Session/Preferences.
- Select View/Zoom/Default to get a full resolution view 1:1 of your
image. You can also use the zoom icons to zoom-in or zoom-out. Move the scroll
bars on the right side or the bottom of the window to scroll down or to the right
side of the image.
